I was born and raised in the beautiful Central North Island in the village of National Park, recently renamed Waimarino, at the foot of the majestic Mt Ruapehu.

After attending secondary school in Hamilton I moved around a wee bit before settling in the North Waikato, where I have lived most of my adult life. I have three amazing tamariki, Mark, Cate and Kevin.

This year I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to be the Structured Literacy Specialist Teacher at our kura, working with small groups and individuals to support their learning. As part of this role I am completing a micro credential through the University of Canterbury. I am also completing my Masters of Contemporary Education just proving you are never too old to study!

I have been teaching for about 20 years in South Auckland and the Waikato and I love building relationships with my students and their whaanau. Before teaching I was a sports journalist, factory operator, volunteer ambulance officer and spent time in the corporate world until the opportunity to follow my heart's true call presented itself.

When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my whaanau and friends, reading. cooking, a bit of gardening and I am hoping to return to the squash courts again.

I look forward to supporting our tamariki and kaiako in their literacy mahi as it is one of my passions in education.
