Welcome to Huntly Primary School

Nau Mai Haere Mai

As the Principal of Huntly Primary School, it is a privilege to welcome you to our school community. Whether you are a long-standing member of our whaanau or joining us for the first time, we invite you to explore what makes our school the "heart of Huntly."

Being the oldest school in our beautiful town, we take great pride in our history while looking firmly toward the future. Our mission is to develop in our children the right attitude, beliefs, and values to succeed in whatever they want to do.

Living our POWER Values
We are a proud PB4L (Positive Behaviour for Learning) school. At Huntly Primary, we don’t just teach subjects; we nurture character. Our students strive every day to show POWER:

Perseverance
Ownership
Wairua Pai
Excellence
Respect
You will see these values in action everywhere—from the classroom to the sports field and during our celebrated Monday morning assemblies.

Wellbeing and Resilience: Mitey and Kiwi Can
We are deeply committed to the holistic wellbeing of our students and are proud to partner with two leading programmes to support our tamariki:

Mitey: As a Mitey school, we weave mental health education into our daily curriculum. Powered by the Sir John Kirwan Foundation, Mitey helps our tamariki build the tools they need to understand their emotions and build lifelong resilience.
Kiwi Can: Through the Graeme Dingle Foundation, our students engage in the Kiwi Can programme every week. These high-energy sessions reinforce our school values, teaching integrity, respect, and positive relationships in a way that is fun and memorable.
A Rich and Holistic Education
Alongside our focus on Literacy and Numeracy, we offer vibrant programmes in the Arts, Sport, and Digital Fluency.  We also place a high value on our cultural heart, honouring our connection to Waikato-Tainui and local iwi through Kapa Haka and te reo Maaori.

Our Whaanau Partnership
We know that education is most powerful when the school and home work together. We value the presence of every student and welcome our whaanau to be active participants in school life. We encourage you to stay connected via the Skool Loop app or by visiting us at the gate for a koorero.

I look forward to our journey together as we work to give our children a successful future.
